Spencer’s Retreat is a 6 acre farm with pigs, goats, sheep, horses and an alpaca. We have a natural play area and nest swing, wendy houses, sandpit, water wall, fairy garden and stable block with books, games, lego and small sensory soft play space.

No, we are not a farm where you can turn up and pay an entrance fee. We require all slots to be booked and paid for in advance. We run on a small team of volunteers and we do not have paid staff manning the farm as you would have at commercial children’s farms.

Our independent access slots are 2.5 hours long and give you exclusive access to the farm. When you book you will receive the code for the gates to get in and then you are able to use the farm for your designated slot.

Independent access costs £30 weekdays during term time and £35 at the weekends and during holidays. This is for up to 6 people to access the farm.

Yes absolutely, additional charges will apply according to the number of people in your group.

Yes, each group has access to complementary animal feed to feed the animals. Please do not feed the animals anything other than this.

We don’t host birthday parties but the farm is available to hire for parties, please get in touch to enquire.

Yes, we already have a number of schools and groups access us to enhance their curriculum or to meet an individual child’s needs. We also have care homes access us to improve mental and physical well being for their residents.

Unfortunately we cannot refund bookings and we cannot reschedule bookings that are cancelled at short notice. If we are given plenty of notice and can fill your slot then we may be able to move you to another day.

We currently have one compostable toilet which is accessed by a step up to the building. We do not currently have a disabled toilet but this is part of our future plans (subject to funding) we have a disabled changing facility (no hoist) with a full size changing bed. This space can also be used for baby changing. We ask that visitors take their clinical waste home as we do not have facilities to dispose of these items.

Spencer’s Retreat is off grid and as such we do not have electricity to be able to make hot drinks in our kitchen. However, we have had funding for solar panels and hope to be able to offer this very soon!

Yes! Visitors are welcome to bring drinks, snacks, picnics etc all we ask is that the rubbish is discarded of in our bins or taken home with you.

Yes, we have public open days once a month and we also allow weekday term time bookings which are open to the general public.
